My name is Linda Raduner and I am a first year student from the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Due to my interest in bovine and mixed animal practice I am searching for a summer position where I could gain relevant experience and knowledge in this area. At the UCVM I have recently learned relevant skills for a summer student such as animal handling and restraint, Biosafety, as well as basic medications and injections. Besides the learning I will continue to gain in my first year of vet school, I also have applicable knowledge from personal experiences. Learning about animal care while growing up on a beef farm in rural Alberta is almost unavoidable. Throughout my youth I spent my time around our cattle, in horse 4-H, and with the small animals on our farm (cats, dogs, chickens). Due to these experiences, I am now confident handling animals, am aware of the normal health and behavior indicators of these species, and realize the different values these animals bring their respective owners.
