The 2019 Conference marked the 11th year of WCABP and Merck Animal Health hosting the Student Case Presentation Award. All WCVM and UCVM veterinary undergraduates (from any year in their program) as well as 2018 graduates were invited to present a beef or dairy case report at the Conference. Presentations were given by: Ryan Morgan, Gracyn Johnson, Julia Case, Brennan Munro and Rae-Leigh Pederzolli. Following their 10-minute presentation those in attendance were asked to rank the presenters based on topic as well as presentation. The winner, Rae-Leigh Pederzolli (UCVM 2020) received $1,500. First runner up was Gracyn Johnson (WCVM 2020), and second runner up was Julia Case (UCVM 2020). Thank you to Merck for continuing to sponsor this Competition and to the students for their participation!

Elanco Canada has honoured Dr. Gordon Atkins with the first ever Dr. Brian MacNaughton Memorial Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine in Canada. Alberta Beef Producers and the Beef Cattle Research Council have developed a two-page summary to give Canadian cattle producers a heads-up about how upcoming Health Canada and provincial government policy changes will impact over-the-counter antimicrobial access. One side summarizes the upcoming changes (as of Dec. 1st you will need a vet prescription to access any medically important antimicrobial).
