WCABP Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation Manual
The second edition of the WCABP Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation Manual by Albert D Barth is now available through the WCABP office at a cost of $20. Students at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine and visitors to the college may purchase the manual from the continuing education office on the 4^th floor of the WCVM. The main change to the second edition is an update on scrotal circumference data and an improvement in photograph quality. The manual is meant to be a guide to practitioners and a teaching resource for veterinary students. The contents of the manual include the methods and reasons for the evaluation of Libido and Service Capacity, Physical Soundness, and Semen Quality. There is a discussion on Normal and Abnormal Spermatogenesis, The Pubertal Bull, and use of the WCABP Breeding Soundness Evaluation Form. There is a 14-page glossary of high quality photographs of all of the types of sperm abnormalities. A brief summary of the significance of each type of sperm defect is provided with each photograph. The salient details of the bull evaluation methods and philosophy is supported by 97 references from the literature.
